SailGB Sponsors Andrew Wood's Solo 'Mini Transat' Race
SailGB has supported Andrew Wood's 2007 Mini Transat Campaign with a Jetboil Camping Stove and a
Box of High Five Energy Bars for his Solo Race across the Atlantic in his 6.5 metre 'Classes Mini'
racing yacht. Andrew aspires to be the first British Sailor ever to cross the finish line in first
place since the race started in late 1970's. A feat beyond Britain's Ellen Macarthur! Conditions are
uncomfortable, dangerous, and sleep is almost non-existent. Combine this with the need to constantly
drive the boat on night and day and you have the recipe for a very competitive challenge indeed.

Andy Welch & Tom Allen of Ride Earth will embark on their challenge in June
2007 aiming to raise money for:
- Wilderness Foundation - Preserving and promoting the value of the
world’s last remaining wild areas.
- Wheels For Life - a non-profit organization that provides bikes
for people in Third-World countries in need of transportation to get to work
or to school; including health care workers. This charity was founded by
extreme biking legend and former Mountain Bike World Champion Hans Rey.
