Research experiments carried out by Leeds University and Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences (2003) compared Keela's new Dual system protection with the world's most famous breathable, waterproof fabric. Realising that current breathability testing was in fact unrealistic, measuring vapour at 50 degrees C. Researchers conducted experiments in more realistic conditions, including both warm and cold water vapour whilst blasting outer layers of fabric with cold and wet conditions for over an hour. After an hour Keela's own Dual system protectection fared considerably better than the market leader as the fabric clogged up and stopped working. The Dual protection from Keela was still transferring inner moisture away from source. This is because the Dual layer protection system traps a layer of air between three layers and keeps the fabric breathable in all severe conditions. As a result the wearer stays dry and comfortable even in prolonged wet, cold and freezing conditions. Keela products were also considerably cheaper than garments using the market leading fabric.
